Patrick Jones : The Language of Colour
3 February - 1 April 2017
The Language of Colour chimes with a renewed interest in abstraction and painting as evidenced by the Abstract Expressionism blockbuster exhibition at the Royal Academy, London. White Moose were delighted to present the work of abstract painter, Patrick Jones in February 2017. This collection of works celebrates Patrick’s contemporary style, demonstrating bold vibrancy and intensity of colour. Patrick paints on large scale canvases, creating pieces which radiate optimism and colour, provoking a complex challenging and emotionally charged visual expressionism.
The No Pasaran series:
“Seeing Ken Loach’s Spanish Civil war drama. Land and Freedom late night at Ritzy in Brixton, while subletting a Stockwell studio, gave rise to the No Pasaran series, which exeeds 30 large works to date.” - Patrick Jones
These works continue to have an intellectual as well as a visual resonance in a world of Brexit, Trump and the rise of the right in an unstable world that questions the free movement of people. The No Pasaran series is based around the shape and colours of national flags of countries from which people have sought refuge and the places which they now call home.
