Group Exhibition : Griffin Art Prize
10 – 30 January 2015
White Moose was delighted to be a chosen venue for the tour of this exhibition from the Griffin Gallery, London for the second year running. This annual art prize is supported by the world's leading fine art brands Winsor and Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris and is an exciting opportunity for emerging artists across the world working in painting and drawing. The judges look for innovation and the applicants' potential to benefit from the awarded residency, which results in a solo exhibition at the Griffin Gallery.
The winner of the Griffin Art Prize 2014 UK - Chudamani Clowes, who has recently graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art, exhibited alongside nine other shortlisted artists. The selection panel included international artists Gordon Cheung and Anj Smith, Jenny Lindén Urnes of the Färgfabriken Foundation, Jenni Lomax OBE, director of the Camden Arts Centre and Alistair Smart of The Sunday Telegraph. Annalisa Fulvi, the winner of the Griffin Art Prize Italy, also exhibited alongside the UK prize winners, stating.
White Moose partners Julie Gavin and Stella Levy said “We are both excited to be showing winning artists from across the world in our Barnstaple-based gallery. One of our aims in opening the gallery two years ago was to support emerging artists both locally and internationally”.
The exhibition featured a variety of interesting contemporary paintings, drawings and installations. Throughout the show the gallery held various artists talks and workshops to encourage the local community to interact with this travelling exhibition.
