Pete Ward, Bideford Black Face, 2013

Our relationship with the earth, and in particular its rocks and soils and the resources they provide, are fundamental to our wellbeing and our cultural expression as human beings. Pete Ward

Since 2008 Pete has explored the possibilities of local earth pigments both as a painting medium and a means to engage and inspire a more responsible relationship with the natural world. His contemporary art practice ranges from ephemeral works in the environment, paintings, video and performance to interdisciplinary workshops and expeditions.

Pete is currently engaged on researching and documenting the history of Bideford Black for the Burton Art Gallery in North Devon.

Pete has an MA in Art & Environment from Falmouth University.
