nigel eveleigh

On-the-edgeLiving in the heartland of North Devon’s farming community, Nigel will often incorporate discarded pieces of bygone farming implements into his wood smoked ceramics.

Hand-forged ironwork or weathered pieces of old oak are discovered and collected whilst on walks in the countryside around his home, inspiring Nigel to give them new life and meaning, bringing together old and new to his sculptural ceramic forms.

The smokey, textural qualities of Nigel’s ceramics are complemented by the use of these found objects, where the worn, hand-burnished look of turn of the century ironwork brought together with his ceramics, works on various levels; historic and nostalgic values are addressed, alongside the craftsmanship of both old and new, make these exciting ceramic pieces visually arresting as well as appealing to a variety of the senses.
