Maria Rivans, Big Ocean, Little Me, 2009 Maria creates collages which offer insight into her personal vision that comments on our world of change, beauty, diversity and mystery. Her work is made up of a combination of found and printed ephemera to create surreal pieces displaying an array of colours and themes. She seeks to overwhelm us with her compositions by combining vivid seductive colours with powerful and often humorous imagery.

Her surfing inspired collage Big Ocean, Little Me (2009) is created from a vintage engraving of the sea, antique illustrations and the dolphin border from old bank notes from around the world. Big Ocean, Little Me was kindly loaned to White Moose by the Museum of British Surfing for the Beyond the Board exhibition.
