John Stezaker, Evolution, 1996 John Stezaker’s work re-examines the photographic and appropriates vintage images from photographs, film magazines, postcards and illustrations using elegant juxtapositions to wittily adapt the original content and context to create new meanings. John attended the Slade School of Art and until 2006 was Senior Tutor in Critical and Historical Studies at the Royal College of Art. John Stezaker has been highly influential in key artistic developments of the last three decades, from Conceptual art,  Appropriation art through to the re-emergence of collage. His work has been exhibited internationally since the 1990s and is represented in major collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Saatchi Collection, London, and the Tate Modern, London. Amongst many awards and prizes he was winner of the prestigious Deutsche Borse Photography Prize in 2012. He is based in London.
