Evy Jokhova

“I am a multi disciplinary artist and bookmaker. My practice draws on an interest in sociology, on how geography and politics dictate the worlds that are created and how individuals are formed by the environment that they live in. I explore space and the form it takes for us – the politics and space of architecture, the sense of belonging, construction, city planning and the systemisation of social norms in worlds both real and fictional. My work surveys the disparity between plan and reality and the fragile boundary between the tangible and the imaginary. I investigate the relationship between man-made constructions and nature through projects that encompass drawing, painting, the expanded field of painting, film, artist books and installation.”

Evy is featured in our current exhibition of shortlisted artists for the Griffin Art Prize 2014 UK.
